Snoekies Fish and Chips opened for business in Hout Bay in 1951. It began life as a Takeaway Café in an old bus, servicing the local fishermen and community. In 2008, Snoekies has a much larger customer base and continues to offer tasty fried fish meals and seafood platters. Snoekies now also offers grilled seafood such as our Prawn and Lobster specials.

Our signature dish at the moment is the “Fisherman’s Basket”. The basket has a bit of everything: hake fillet, snoek portion, calamari, prawns and chips.

Snoekies only uses palm oil which is free of trans-fatty acids. There is also scientific evidence that palm oil rich diets do not increase the total cholesterol in humans.

We use fresh potatoes in order to produce real “slap” chips.
